About therapy

As an Integrative Therapist  I am trained in a blend of 'talking therapies', meaning I am able to provide personalised support, according to your individual needs. My approach combines Person Centred Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, (MCBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.

At the very heart of the way I work are my values of compassion, acceptance and respect and I believe that every individual has a unique ability to grow.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am guided by their Ethical Framework, and committed to helping you feel safe, listened to, and valued. You can learn more about Integrative Therapy on the BACP website.

How we work together will depend on what you are hoping to gain from therapy and your specific needs. You may wish to use therapy to explore your thoughts and feelings around current difficulties;  you might choose to explore issues from the past or you might be looking to focus on learning coping skills and strategies to improve resilience and balance in your life. It is possible you may wish to work in a combination of these areas.

This style of therapy is a two-way, 'team effort' where therapist and client work together to create a relationship that supports learning, growth and positive change. This type of therapeutic change requires a certain level of commitment and effort which at times can feel difficult and challenging, especially at the beginning.  I will support and gently guide you as we explore and identify your challenges and look to find ways of increasing helpful ways of being. Examples may be, developing healthy boundaries and learning to prioritise your health and self-care to reduce effects of stress or anxiety.

During your first appointment, we will discuss your goals for therapy and this is your opportunity to get a feel for my practice and wether it might be a good fit for you.

This initial session will also help me understand your needs to ensure my experience and skill set are appropriately matched to your needs. We will agree how we will work together going forwards including areas of focus, number and frequency of sessions.
